Cata had some great quests (Orkus, punching deathwing in the face, reuniting the bravo company, etc) but the classic journey felt more rewarding on the whole

Classic: world felt bigger (Getting sunken Temple quest in Tanaris) Cara: questlines flowed better, zones told stories Not gonna say which is better but I did quit classic (and BC) twice while I've only taken short breaks since Cata.

Whilst I enjoy the revamp for story purposes, after playing Classic, I gotta say that the classic leveling has a different charm to it, you really felt like a nobody, you felt more inclined and to group up with people, whilst on retail you can kill literal gods like nothing

Not that it’s a bad thing, I enjoy both, but I do agree that there are some quests that make no sense in classic lol
