Well the Kor'kron were the elite guards for the Warchief and with the Warcheif title dissolved I would assume they would defend the Council then.

That or so many it members where kill in the Mop Horde cvil war there was not that many member's hence why Sylvanas was in charge you see form Abominations to her own Dark rangers (Sure there was that one guy in book but he quit what happen to his Magnataur pets where killed)
