If they did want Anduin to have kids and he was gay they could always go for a surrogate if his better half was unable to birth kiddos. That way you would still have an heir to Stormwind and Anduin could be with the person he loves.

I don't hate Anduin and he was pretty heavily involved enough as an Ambassador and negotiator with the Horde. I think it's a great mistake of viewing Anduin "not doing anything" because he's not fighting. Talking and making steps for peace is a big thing to do.
Could Anduin done more? Yes, in fact, lots of characters should've done more but I was content enough with what was given. Expansion isn't over yet either so that should be noted too.
