I feel like everybody has the right to state if they like Classic or don't. Right now its the "popular thing" to say, "Yeah I like Classic!" I feel like the people who are opposed to Classic WoW are the people who don't like it when something isn't catered to them.

Eh, I personally am not as fond to Classic mostly because I like the state of the game to a degree. Mostly just the new models, flying, easier to get gold, etc.

It's never been a popularity vote. It still isn't. There's a major reason that vanilla servers have been booming for 12 years after vanilla. People really wanted it

And people are finally getting it, however, people who've wanted this for a while always bashed current WoW and are still bashing it. I'm more biased to current day's version since I've lived that life before, but I am intrigued by the idea of playing Classic again.
