I missed Blizzard saying that "it's possible" that Mechagon will be fully explorable outside of a dungeon setting in the future. If there weren't other obvious signs that Mechagnomes are going to be an Allied Race, that's it right there. That's their base they return to.
Mechagnomes are 99% going to be an Alliance Allied Race. I doubt it's going to be another nightborne situation because they have every right to join with their gnomish brothers and sisters than join the Horde.
