I feel like overhype for any character can kill them. You have so much built up for a character(s) and the writer(s) has to deal with that tremendous weight. I didn't care much for Turalyon or Alleria personally but I think a good comparison for me was how DW was treated.
That's not to say a writer can't work with that overhype just look at Thanos in how he was dealt with in Infinity War and End Game.
