Most of those seem perfectly feasible, except for perhaps "merging helms". But what do you mean by left and right armor pieces?
Hiding your left gloves or shoulders. You know how Garrosh has one glove? Or how Saurfang has one shoulder? Like that.

It's possible with shoulders and 3d gloves from Legion/BFA, but not ordinary gloves, because the character armor textures are mirrored

They did already say they're working on breaking those limitations in 8.2 so its possible we could see them fix that.
