You're probably not wrong, but my only experience with WoD was leveling at the end before Legion. I was so active during BC, and so involved with a guild, that I will always remember it more fondly.
See, I'm the opposite I was super active during Warlords of Draenor and didn't play Burning Crusade at all except for leveling, gear and reputations. If people had a great time during TBC that's awesome! I just think the expansion over all isn't worth its praise.

I see! Well considering you didn't actually play the expansion, I don't think you're giving it fair judgement as an expansion as a whole. But I don't think anyone should judged you skipping it while leveling; I do the same myself

I still played the expansion I just didn't play when it was live is all. It just seems like the goggles of nostalgia can hold a tight grip on anyone for anything.
