Even then, Jaina and Lor'themar barely managed that small truce thanks to Taran Zhu. The conflict is stronger now than it was then, and I don't know who could serve in Taran Zhu's mediator role

My best guess would be Muradin who finally stomps his crystalized feet on the factions toes to get along for now. At the same time they already have the Saurfang storyline to push that not all the Horde are bad.

The Alliance would listen to Magni, I think, but I very much doubt the Horde would; which would force the Alliance to retaliate. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure Saurfang would be willing to end the war. A "good" Horde and a faction war are not mutually exclusive.

I also feel like not even Magni would be like, "Alright I guess let's forgive the genocides!" and Tyrande and co CERTAINLY would not. And if they were written to actually do so, that'd be an irredeemable spit in the face of fans of those races.

Magni is already working along both the Alliance and the Horde but yeah I don't think characters like Tyrande or the Night Elves will ever let Teldrassil down.

Having champions work with him to stop Azerite is not the same thing as him demanding the faction war stop. Sylvanas already has shown she's not interested. And she's the leader.

But what if there are characters who agree with Magni & the Alliance that they need to put their differences aside to deal with Queen Azshara? It'd also be a good way to stick it to Sylvanas & a step in the right direction. Though Sylvanas is picking off those who would 1 by 1.

You can't just repeat the same story beat without the lead up and then pretend that it should have the same narrative or emotional impact.

8.1.5 has plenty of hints and acknowledgements that something will occur or be done. I agree we need that build up which is where 8.2 or 8.2.5 comes in. Since we don't really know what the final patch is I would assume they would do something more in the middle.

Garrosh tried to kill a faction leader and then half the faction immediately turned on him. In the same patch. Sylvanas imprisons Baine and everybody else is like, "Oh gosh." and then nothing happens.

It's probably being led for 8.2 or 8.2.5 I do believe that is actually the end of the 8.1.5 War Campaign unless they add something on afterwards which I doubt.
