I think you're right, but, at this point in the story, I don't think the Horde and Alliance could return to peace, even if, just as an example, Thrall would take Sylvanas' place as Warchief. The grievances between the factions just seem too deep right now to solve easily.

As a result, at this point, I feel they've almost written themselves into a corner. To do away with the faction war right now would be just as bad storyline-wise.

When Sylvanas is killed or deposed, if they don't end that stupid story hook I know a bunch of people who are just going to be 100% done. Myself probably included.

I hope they do end it too. I dislike this storyline as well. It's just that I feel the stakes have been raised too high this time. I'd honestly be shocked if we don't squabble pointlessly when we get to Nazjatar

Nazjatar to me would be a good time for characters to try and amend bridges. Really depends on who in the Horde and Alliance show up there. We know already Jaina and Anduin are trying to foil Sylvanas' schemes in that patch.

Not when Sylvanas is leading the Horde.

You don't think we wont get a repeat of the Throne of Thunder like we did with Jaina and Lor'themar? I just think now is a good time for some leaders to go, "Azshara is much scarrier than your faction we've gotta truce for now."

Even then, Jaina and Lor'themar barely managed that small truce thanks to Taran Zhu. The conflict is stronger now than it was then, and I don't know who could serve in Taran Zhu's mediator role

My best guess would be Muradin who finally stomps his crystalized feet on the factions toes to get along for now. At the same time they already have the Saurfang storyline to push that not all the Horde are bad.

The Alliance would listen to Magni, I think, but I very much doubt the Horde would; which would force the Alliance to retaliate. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure Saurfang would be willing to end the war. A "good" Horde and a faction war are not mutually exclusive.

If Saurfang had to choose between, "End this war or bring back the Horde as it was." I would think the latter would make the most sense. It probably is too soon to say when the war will end but my hopes are Thrall or Baine are the ones to end it on Horde side.
