So rather than go back to a state that Zandalar has been in for centuries, one of neutrality regarding the Horde, he defies the Alliance, losing his life, and causing the Alliance to ransack the city on their way out. The Alliance could have also killed Talanji for all he knew.

When his advisers betrayed him & nearly killed him. The Horde did everything it could to protect his kingdom & when the Alliance knocks on his door he's asked to turn his back on them. The lesson to Rastakhan was to not go back to the Zandalari of old but to improve. (1/2)
