Oh, they're coming back. On our side. lol. That's my theory. Sargeras will ultimately come back to help us against the big bad. I know that doesn't necessarily play into your idea that the Pantheon are the bad guys. Unless... he helps us fight them.

I'm kinda biased because I'm not aware of the RPG lore. My stance currently is... Chronicle is definitive. Anything that comes after in-game or in a Christie Golden novel (where's Knaak these days??) is canon. Even if it contradicts Chronicle. But anything before is bollocks.
"Naaru are benevolent." Right that's why Xe'ra hid the Dark Naaru thing from Turalyon and tried to forcefully Lightforge Illidan. Benevolent my ass. It's biased across the board.
I think that Warcraft Reforge is the best way to retcon and polish up older Lore without spending time on a book. I'm very certain Chronicles had to left out certain details that we were unaware of. Its another reason to be excited about the game its something new and old!

I'm excited about Reforged. For multiple reasons. Firstly... we get to play a great Blizzard game again with an update. But secondly... the potential it has to bring RTS games back to PC and the potential it has to possibly create buzz for a WC4 which WoW desperately needs.

Reforged is just gonna be great. Greater than Classic and greater than Battle for Azeroth. I'll enjoy those two above but Warcraft 3 has a special place in my heart.
