You can if the writers aren't trying to milk something for money and actually considering the story as something to put effort into. I honestly think blizzard would like BfA more if WoW didn't have complex history and character backgrounds. They wouldn't be bending so much.
I think we just need to be patient for the characters to start acting out against her basically. Otherwise they would have already.

Defaulting to 'wait and see' every time poor storytelling is going on is no actual defense, you know.

Because if blizzard really valued the story and didn't treat it as literally nothing but an afterthought, we wouldn't need to wait. Story and gameplay would actually work together.
