Wrong wrong wrong! Thrall left the Horde to join the Earthen Ring and fight against Deathwing. Vol'jin convinced Thrall to aid him in his revolution against Garrosh. And yes, he did cheat against him in the Mok'korah, but he did so because Garrosh was too dangerous to let live.

Garrosh's problem was he ignored every voice but his own. A Warchief is a leader and a leader doesn't do things that benefit him and him alone. If Garrosh had listened, if Garrosh worked to work things out for all of the Horde then he would be a good Warchief. But he didn't.
