Both of them wore armor and both wore armor in their first Mak'gora in Orgrimmar. Now changes can happen but it was never stated in-game that Thrall cheated only that he believed the elements no longer heeded him which is only due to his mental state on killing Garrosh.

You're basing this off of just that? They should've both been in loin cloths in that reality but they weren't. Unless stated by Blizzard i'm going to take it with a grain of salt that Thrall cheated. And if he did I don't mind that he did given the alternative if he didn't.
