This limits the scope to human, either corporate secrets, foreign human advesary, or near time traveling humans. Odds of "aliens" being only 50 years more advanced driving human sized vehicles?.... negledgible IMO
One caveat - they might be deliberating appearing similar or slightly ahead. Too different and we might just completely ignore it. Most of the world doesn't need any help with that as it is!

I buy 50 years if it implies at least in classified settings we've figured most of the physics out. If we understand the physics, 50 years could change everything. That's about the time between the first planes and putting a man on the moon.
