I think the last explanation I read years ago is that they were [supposedly] welding rods or rods for a torch of some sort?
I concluded they were graphite/carbon rods used in a large arc spot lights. But Junior claimed a scientist confided (his words) they were "element 115".... I wonder if Eric Davis knew what happened to them? Classified materials or common trash?

at the moment it is the most logical explanation. However it may beg the question what are graphite/carbon rods used for military style spot lights doing at the Ranch? I have personally witnessed a massive spotlight (not handheld) with no apparent source/base on 2 occasions
