And quite a lot of the books focus on packing bags, landscapes and histories therein, going on really long walks, getting lost then found and getting on with ones that are not like oneself

I loved Roger Ebert's review of the first movie where he pointed out that the novel is just a series of long walks interspersed with feasting and little discernible action.
