Gender roles are fake. I’m perfectly willing to cook and be a woman’s emotional support provided that she defends our island home by singing on the rocks and luring approaching sailors to a watery death.

Prisoner of Azkaban might be the best Harry Potter book because it answers the age-old question “what if Agatha Christie wrote a mystery novel where the murderer turned out to be a human disguised as someone’s pet rat”

  6. heard a preacher on the radio say “a man loves to come home and hang out in his garage fixing cars.” excuse me, what about men who wear cable-knit sweaters and write fan-fiction in which Paddington Bear solves a variety of grisly crimes? we exist.

  7. Girls, the world will try to police what you wear and what you read and how you think but it isn’t your job to please everyone. You are not a lump of clay to be molded in someone else’s image. Resisting the pressure to let others define you is an act of true courage.

Those who grew up being mistreated often feel security in *continuing* to be mistreated because it validates how we already see ourselves. We find the love of others confusing and threatening. Know your own value. Learn to think well of yourself. Stay open to those who love you

why are so many boys looking for a wife who is Quiet and Sweet and demure when they could have a wife who was raised by wolves and knows how to wield a sword and has magic thrumming from her fingertips.

there’s a sad boy in an Agatha Christie novel who tells his crush, “I didn’t want to fall in love with you. I wanted to sit quietly and write my book. Such a nice book, all about how miserable the world is,” and if that’s not the biggest mood.

it's okay to dress like a librarian. it's okay to wear over-sized sweaters and have hair that poofs out in the rain. it's okay to put on your glasses and pin up your hair *before* kissing someone. wear the cardigan you wish to see in the world.

girls don’t want boys, they want ceremonial daggers and ancient magicks and the freedom to make their own decisions and to not be called “crazy” when they set reasonable boundaries.
