She blocked me long ago, but I have to wonder about someone whose entire opinion of a profession comes from ill-recollected advice from a family member, yet insists they know better than members of that profession. This person writes a medical show.

I am among the many physicians whom she has blocked and proud of it. Elective surgery shouldn’t be done? She’s nuts. If her father really said that, he’s nuts too.

The table of risk in the Documentation Guidelines (I know, not clinical, coding) uses the word "elective major surgery." Whenever I talk about it I say, "scheduled major surgery." If I need my gall bladder out, or need a knee replacement, it's not elective it is scheduled. Geez.

As someone that had their gallbladder taken out a couple weeks ago, your example really speaks to me!
