  Responses from larger YouTubers are pretty much similar. "Back in my day..." They sound like the older generation who doesn't understand the younger generation. It's funny when you think about it because they're "millennials" talking like they're grandparents. It's super naive.

  I think she’s just saying not to go to people and straight up ask for shout outs. It’s rude to do. If you want a shout out, tell them about yourself and what you do. And if they think you’re doing something worth a shout out, they’ll make that decision on their own. :)
