I agree with this at the moment. Hopefully the introduction of sub buttons for affiliates will make a difference for a large number of them

I don't think they did this maliciously. But it is a result of decisions made.

Gotta say, I completely disagree that this is a bad thing. Side effect, yes. But not a terrible awful thing.

It's a great tool and stepping stone for many. It will greatly benefit some people, yes. And I'm happy for those who do.

There's going to be a lot of growing pains involved with affiliate, and I hope this ends up being only a short term problem for the majority
