I was theorizing what Valve could maybe do to help combat hackers and an idea I came up with is: players who refuse to kick their hacking teammates should be given the same punishment as the person who's cheating. Thoughts?

The issue with that is that sometimes it could just be a few people who are queuing with the hacker knowingly, and if the few people who don't know that said person is hacking can't get the person kicked, then they would get a punishment for trying to get the hacker kicked...

So I think the best bet is if the person on the hacker's team thinks a person is hacking, and doesn't want them to hack/kick them out of the game, but can't get them out, then the only solution is for the person to report them and let Overwatch take over.

I was suggesting that the overwatch person also be in charge of judging whether or not a player was protecting them and allowing them to cheat

In that case, it would be an issue of Valve implementing that stuff in Overwatch cases and probably getting a higher tick rate for viewing said cases so we can get more accurate verdicts as well. There's also the issue of players not kicking and only just reporting...

If a player was protecting them from a kick, then I'd say it'd be a great idea for Valve to let Overwatch case reviewers know that x person was protecting them, but maybe not a punishment as hard as the actual hacker, unless x person was hacking as well.

Yeah perhaps not as harsh as a vac ban but something that discourages strongly enabling hackers in competitive

Probably something like a week or two light ban from competitive would maybe work
