It wasn't a stunt in the past. He was deluded into thinking that in order to maintain his online persona he had to be as crazy as can be, and his mental illness heavily contributed to that and influenced his behaviors as well.

I don't think it was a stunt either. But with him saying it was related to an ARG after the fact, I didn't know what else to call it.

People brushing what was probably a very real break in his mental health off as just "stunts" is probably a part in what lead to this.

It was hard not to think as such at the time with him saying it was related to an ARG and stuff. I dunno, hindsight man :/

Blame Keemstar for inciting Etika to "jump off of a bridge" in the interview he had with him, instead of attempting to try and support him and put some sense into him, he played a role in what this is. Him and everyone else who thought he was fucking around.

I’m sure everyone wanted this to be another stunt, even the people who joked about it — though rather insensitively. It’s cold to hear such news but I’m sure it warms us to speak and hear our condolences together. I hope you’re doing alright, Simps.

It was never a stunt. Never. Never treat suicidal threats or behaviors as stunts, even if they truly are. It's not worth it.
