Please take care of your hands speedrunners. I find it silly that turbo is still a controversial topic in the West in 2019. I used to only be able to run my favorite game once a week at best because of how much mashing is involved that my hands would just be in constant pain.

Unpopular opinion but I don't think turbo should be universal since they're fundamentally the same as macros That being said, it's a case-by-case basis and is perfectly fine to have separately as a leaderboard if demanded for, partially for health issues that you mentioned

honestly games shouldn't require mashing in the first place nowadays, like text mashing or required ATB mashing and such. It's just shit design to require that coughsonicmaniacough

I don't think text is usually the cause for complaint. I mean people groan about it, but usually mashing an attack or shoot button is what really kills people.

personally I see a lot more about text mashing since it typically doesn't really add anything to the speedrun's depth, which is why (from what i've seen) turbo is more frequently accepted for these situations than shooting/attacking games

I like the emphasis of value placed on certain things like frame perfect text boxes in OoT any%, where full run optimization has made it more significant. I'm much more for ergonomic controllers as a solution than I am a button that plays the game for you.
