I agree but from the other side I sort off disagree, there are plenty of youtubers who make money by playing a game and the developers could make the same point you're making right now.

You're completely right - and many developers exercise that right. Nintendo has done it for years and just recently changed their policy this year. So yeah - developers can do that too and some of them do. They have the rights to those things as well. What's your point?

The way I see it is, I like to make my own content but I'm slow and editing and stuff so if someone took one of my clips and used it before I got to make my own video of it I'd be pretty upset. So not being asked is very important and blaming others when it's your channel is dumb

Yeah that pisses me off too - I'm usually a month behind and people are using my best moments before I can get to it.

I'd argue that no channel that compiles other people's footage deserves to be monetized. Yes, the editing takes work, but there's literally zero "you" in the video. It's literally just 10 minutes of re-used footage from others.
