There’s literally a way to make a post from your account and use the video uploaded by another user that credits the video creator and still plays video organically in your tweet. I really don’t understand the defensiveness here.

Again all your points are valid. Frankly not denying any of them (even the jabs about the small ego boost I’m getting from my 15 minutes of retweet fame). If I delete the tweet now though, does OP benefit or lose more than if I keep it up?

Was it the video, or the video and *my* (albiet low effort) caption that made it go viral? If I delete it and retweet the original video, with the same caption (but now w/o the guaranteed visibility), does OP benefit more or less?

As evidenced by the impressions of your tweets identifying OP and linking back to his page, essentially no one is seeing that message. If you delete the tweet and post again with his vid embedded and your copy, at least *someone* will see op’s name.

But more broadly, though I don’t have an issue with these questions as an interesting question, the very fact that we’re having this conversation fucking sucks. There’s no justice. The “hey you stole this” is no longer about your actions.

I totally agree that it sucks. But, please take what I say at face value: I downloaded a gif and re-uploaded to make it Twitter-UI-friendly (so my followers would click it and be fooled). That was the main intent. /

In the context of my crime (and serving justice), that original intent has to be taken into consideration. DO YOU GET THAT??? /
