One last shot of SAT-1 for the week, now with the magnetic shield lid installed and our logo proudly displayed. We're looking forward to getting some more components installed soon and sharing with everyone!

Hints of the future, the focal plane assembly with dummy detector modules has been successfully installed in SAT-1! The actual array will look similar though with more wires, a lot more wires.

Time for Foto Friday, pretty sure that's a thing. New renders of the SAT array courtesy with new CAD models from Grant. Let's start with a nice aerial view of the three SAT's mounted on their platforms and surrounded by ground shields.

Introducing the latest in CMB technology: 3D printed, stycast potted, superconducting lead macrobolometers! (Patent pending, Jiffy pop not included). But actually, Aamir showing off the SO SAT-1 focal plane assembly with dummy masses to Brian and Andrew.

Astrophysicists baffled by strange object in pelican case. Speculate it may have something to do with large metallic bees. In other news the focal plane assembly has arrived for install with SAT-1.

Another beautiful day in our lab. We are expecting a hand carried delivery by Aamir from UCB who is visiting for a few days to install the optics and detector mounting components. Should be fun!

Packing day for the second Simons Array ( ) camera, PB2b. The container will be filled up with everything needed to get the camera up and running at our site in Chile. If SO is lucky, we'll be sneaking some boxes in here too, including furniture for our new lab space!

Updates this week will mostly be out of with where we are getting some shipments ready for Chile and continuing testing of SAT-1, the first element of SO we expect to head to Chile. Feel free to ask questions about what we are working on here!

Here’s the shiny copper assembly that holds the readout chips we’re testing with magnetic fields. It’s mounted to the cold stage in our DR and read out with a SMuRF (). Time to talk about it on the telecon today!
