Sorry to hear it. Here, have a free red panda. Almost guaranteed to reduce the onset of psychosis.pic.twitter.com/CAnSbOU3LN

region, so PVRTextool just runs a simple algorithm to flip the axes of regions of the image data. It's only greedy, so doesn't always work (see top left of attached image), but it's much better than not doing it at all.pic.twitter.com/kLxI5IoX8b

If I hadn't solved this one, I would have felt the need to hand in my SIGGRAPH & Eurographics cards :-)pic.twitter.com/9r4IyUPlbS

I see your, modern, 21st century desk ornaments and raise you a late 80s parallel processing CPU and a 90s tech award.pic.twitter.com/7ksFLHCV15

For example, some of the 12x12, "four" partition options, "normalised" and sorted... (the latter ones, though, do tend to use 4 actual partitions more frequently.)pic.twitter.com/RrG5zsDmd0

FWIW the PowerVR "Wizard" device was relatively low power (Otoy said 2W https://home.otoy.com/otoy-and-imagination-unveil-breakthrough-powervr-ray-tracing-platform/ … , Tom's HW, 10W) but was doinghttps://youtu.be/Xcf35d3z890

@johnregehr@doomed_daniel Is it really that surprising?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdcGoBOsaQM … -
I found the doc I wrote from around 2002, with a graph comparing a 16-bit fixed point depth buffer against a 1/W floating-point. (Don't know why I chose 16-bits as, IIRC, PowerVR's typically used 24~32 bit FP depth accuracy)pic.twitter.com/XW8BvSaT5r

To make it a bit clearer, this is a picture from a Graphics Hardware presentation from 2003 (http://www.graphicshardware.org/previous/www_2003/program.html …) except for PVRTC which had slightly different "buckets". The Y axis is showing just one channel (e.g. red) but you do all of them simultaneously.pic.twitter.com/Amz2jhVa15

@AskPS_UK Into about the 3rd (non-contiguous) hour of trying to add a family account. I have a feeling you are trying to tell me something but are just whispering it too quietly.pic.twitter.com/SuDSSfpXqw

That is true, but ETC will also have problems if colours aren't aligned on 2x4 or 4x2 blockspic.twitter.com/2fIp2TJKC2

Do you have a link for Dachsbacher? FWIW perhaps earliest octahedral encoding (~2002) used 2 bits to ID face pairs with same XY signs, then Z sign identified by "|X|+|Y|<1/2".pic.twitter.com/ZvCxJcsRQD
