Evidence that experience matters. A trip on a clown car just ends up in the circus.
Yes!!! And we got the circus with the creepy-scary clowns, not the funny-entertaining clowns.
Yes, I think GWB (43) coined the expression "misunderestimated." I loved that.
It's hard sometimes to grasp a man like Trump. Decent people habitually give others the benefit of the doubt. It's hard to grasp when a man like that is willfully doing the worst things imaginable, because he wants to do harm.
Great point that I hadn't thought about. There are certainly people still instinctively giving Trump the benefit of the doubt because they are decent people themselves. Maddening for those of us who saw through him a long time ago, but true!
The adjective “decent” may, perhaps, be used to describe these people, but the adjective “naive” may be more appropriate in this situation.
Yes, that too. The blinders seem to be coming off for some people.. but just very, very slowly.
Had Republicans not gone the Reagan route, I might have become one.
Oh, that's interesting. I liked Reagan but was pretty young at the time. So that's based more on "feeling" than policy or substance, iykwim.
I'm always fascinated by the various positive takes on Reagan. My first presidential vote was in 84 and I didn't get the appeal then either!
He was an actor. They tend to have some appeal :) Silla, which Bush were you referring to?
Ha, so true about Reagan! My tweet was about both Bushes, but I ran out of space. Neither stellar, but decent people. Contrast w/now...ugh.
I met him by chance once. He defied his security to walk over and talk to my then 8 yr old daughter. Even stooped to her level, eye to eye.
I
that. Decent, honorable presidents. I feel like that's something I've very much taken for granted up 'til now.
I agree. I was not in agreement wit W but greatly admire that his daughters contribute to society. Says a lot about him.
A decent statesman who understands how politics, public relations and perception work? This seems like such a distant memory.
Ancient, ancient history. *sigh*
