😍 Oxford Town Hall, 1940/1 Two Polish airmen visiting Oxford had been struck by the plight of children from London and Coventry whose homes had been destroyed. They persuaded their colleagues to host a party for 200 children - here they are waiting on their English guests.

Typically-curious work by Polish polymath, Jan Jonston (1603-75). Born in Szamotuły, his father was Scottish. J. attended unis in Poland, Denmark, England, Scotland, Germany and the United Provinces, before returning to Poland. He died in Silesia (then in the Bohemian crownlands)

Tell me I'm not mad... Manoeuvres of Polish troops in England. The caption reads 'A convoy of guns, ammunition, and equipment sliding down a steep incline during a test of the roads.' I'm thinking 'wonky camera and caption writer who doesn't give a stuff.' Your thoughts?

The Polish contribution to the outcome of the Battle of Britain was enormous & it is important to remember these men when discussing the operations of 1940. – mjesto: Polish War Memorial

We also took time to visit the Polish Air Force Memorial at former RAF Northolt which commemorates more than 2,100 Polish airmen who died fighting with the Western Allies. – mjesto: Polish War Memorial

Twitter help needed. I’m looking for a lady called Zosia (Polish) who was best friends with my babcia Krystyna Hanna nee Kondoł. I don’t have much to go on other than she was living in the Beaumont Leys area of Leicester in the 1980s last we knew. She have passed away by now.
