This is not to say that they couldn't choose to join such a federation, but there was this idea that the USA should be preserved and remain united post-revolution, just as a Socialist entity instead of its current form.

And I see a lot of Socialists in the US giving their opinions on which leaders and movements in the Third World they should support, picking sides as if they would choose governments for the Third World if they ever had power in the US. Sounds familiar?

We really do need to decolonise our Socialism. This weekend, someone straight up said that imperialism could help to spread Socialism if the USA was Socialist and united all of the Americas.

And while many persons won't explicitly say this nonsense (because it sounds troll-ish, right?), a lot of arguments I see on here seem to reflect an eerily similar type of thinking among some actual Leftists. I see it in multiple tendencies.

Back to the original post... Some of the dragging really wasn't necessary. She seemed open to honest engagement. Persons asked her questions and she elaborated. You definitely won't win support with this behaviour.

I would say that a fundamental democratic attitude should pervade If a majority within a nation ask for our help, we should help them if we aren’t (democratically) fundamentally opposed to what they’re asking for. Not on the specific issue, but based on shared ethical principles
