High density housing definitely not the problem here. This is a fairly small town surrounded by houses with increasing amounts of property. It's pretty rare for a house to have less than a half acre lot and many of these houses had 5 or 10 acres

It's been many years since I had been through the area, and it was rural then! When I lived in CA Central Coast, it & Southern Calif would get firestorms in areas where houses are right next to each other, like the hills of Santa Barbara. Distance doesn't matter in High Winds!

A lot of the losses in the Santa Rosa area last year were dense housing. I work for Cal Fire in the early 90s and so many neighborhoods burn to the ground in Southern California. It was always surreal
