Unfortunately investigative journalism is hard to get into and not the easiest to do with no background or prior training. While I wish there was more of it in the scene, it's understandable why it's lacking from the scene.

As with any other kind of journalism, it's all about learning via doing. Harsha and I had no prior experience and broke a number of key roster moves, shuffles, insider stuff etc. We studied the ethics and processes, made relationships w/ players, and grafted. It's not that hard.

I'm not saying it's not impossible, but it's very daunting to say "yeah, just make connections with pros." I think there is a gap in understanding. When you first started, the scene was very fresh and new and the access level to players was much lower. It's a bit harder.

The scene is still incredibly fresh and new. We're less than one year into OWL-level professionalism, it'll only get more closed off from here. Players stream often, interact w/ fans, talk in main Discords, interact in interviews with journalists etc. No time like the present.

Then maybe I am going about it the wrong way b/c every time I reach out to a pro via discord I don't hear back or the org doesn't get back to me. -Shrug-

Agree, orgs are terrible for that. Official avenues often are dead ends. Think I only got something reasonable once from talking to an org or PR person. Player stuff is always going to be better if you approach with simple questions or interview stuff before deep inquiries.
