The key for me is that this has only just become the case. Previously we did not have enough parity for maps to be the deciding factor. Overall strength, playstyle matchup etc. was overpowering the map variable in most situations.
Yep. Overwatch was previously defined by the heroes but now its starting to be about the maps. Its less about heroes being good or bad and more about where they are applicable.
Possibly a side affect of the fixed map pools as well.
I think this is true at OWL level as it was mostly new and multi language squads looking to gel, but at Apex level there was a lot of intricacies at the top level when it came to map selection
