Moved into my new place in Austin, the 26hr drive was a slog but we did it. The only things that fell around during the move were both our PCs. Slipped off the dolly and smashed into Beth's car, taking a chunk out of my monitor too. Anyone got good new monitor recommendations??

everyone's going to tell you to get 240hz 1080p, as if you are good at video games. but what you actually need is a 144hz 1440p IPS panel. i suggest the acer predator xb271HU or the asus xg279q, whatever is cheaper. they have very similar panels. please. listen to me. im begging
Doesn't that mean I'll end up running games at higher resolution and lower fps to make use of it?

yeah, but everything else about it will be way, way better, much better for content creation tasks & general use while not having much of impact on gameplay. the evidence suggests stable frame times are more important than raw fps anyway in terms of input lag etc.

there’s a pretty good linus tech tips video wherein they show the diminishing returns of higher framerate displays. the biggest jump for almost everybody comes from 60->144. after that you have to be corey or shroud to eke out another 3%

1080p on a 1440p monitor will be a bit blurry due to non-integer scaling. So yeah, you'll have to take the fps hit. Just go for 1080p 144 Hz IPS for gaming. Get a bigger, slower, higher-res for editing and stuff.
