To clarify on solo duo queue: we want to create a system that is fair for both teams and individuals to play in while avoiding the downsides of creating two queues (longer queue times, asymmetrical queue health). We are continuing to working towards that.

I would love for the opportunity to opt in for longer queues and play against solos/duos and no stacks, and also not get any teammates on my team that ranked up to that rank while playing in a stack. Rank inflation was a huge problem in the beta already, I'm worried it'll stay

Mendo is absolutely correct here and rank inflation will immediately become an issue. people play OW rank because they have to, but people will move to a FaceIt/ESEA system for Valorant the first chance they get if this is not addressed

Why is that a bad thing? Having room in your model for companies to host and monetize a more hardcore option is a positive for the elite playerbase.

it's not, but there are issues. first, Blizzard didn't allow it for OW ($$$ FPL/Rank S style), and it's possible Riot won't either. second, there may not be game launch automation like Valve games can. third, the official rank system -should- be the best option to unite players

Replying to @Slasher @SideshowGaming and
ESEA has been running in CS for over a decade before facilitating that same ecosystem for FaceIt. CS is rather unique in it's execution of an established third party ecosystem AND a rather trash first party official matchmaking system

I don't agree with point 3 that ranked "should" be the best for all. It has to cater to millions of players needs, whereas a 3rd party MM can specifically tailor its product to the people who care the most. Far easier to get change, no worries about compromise. Better for all.

And point 1 and 2 are potential Riot fuckups which they can avoid easily without hurting themselves. Easy lift, positive gain. There's an obvious downside to soloQ as stated above. No major downside to allowing 3rd party MM.

you would think so for your last point, but we've seen time and time again that publishers most notably Riot and Blizzard love to exert complete control over the entire ecosystem
