To clarify on solo duo queue: we want to create a system that is fair for both teams and individuals to play in while avoiding the downsides of creating two queues (longer queue times, asymmetrical queue health). We are continuing to working towards that.

Keep in mind Overwatch was in great need of a 3rd party matchmaking service for a while, all of the attempts at starting them up were shut down by Blizzard If Riot doesn't allow 3rd party matchmaking services then having one terrible MM system will be awful, been there done that
I haven't seen any indication so far that Riot are planning on locking down their scene like Blizzard. Agree it would be a dumb move not to allow 3rd party matchmaking, but I think the evidence is clear there from CS:GO and they seem to be following that path more than OW.

Sure, but the optimal future for the games health is for the games official ranked system to be the primary one used by all levels of players, including top level. Fighting for the health of the ranked queue = fighting for the health of the game, even though Id be fine with 3rd p

Im sure top level players will only use official MM only until they reach highest rank, then they gonna compete on 3rd party sites where there are pro leagues and tournaments. Just like in CSGO. //

Riot is pretty controlling of their games, in League you can get banned for using harmless mods like custom announcer packs I think
