The balancing around GOATs in 2019 absolutely ruined the community perception of "metas". There were AMAZING metas in the past that spanned multiple months that were not detrimental to the viewing experience. There were also AWESOME moments in GOATs, it just lasted too long.

Could counter with the MANY comps and styles that were played in 2018 but I think that's missing the point. The argument is about what defines a stagnant meta. Having the same support line neither makes a "meta" nor makes it boring. Having the same 5/6 heroes & PLAYSTYLE does.

Speaking for us plebeian viewers, when the same composition of heroes is run, we feel that the meta is the same despite the strategic differences in the comp

Both are true. In the end moth comp is still moth comp but moth meta 2.0 when more DPS lineup is played is literally peak OW.

You can say the same for 2019 Stages 1, 2, and 3 though. Stage 1 was pure GOATS, Stage 2 saw the gradual shift to Sombra GOATS, then Stage 3 had the rise and eventual victory of Triple DPS as a counter to GOATS. 2018 Stage 1 was Moth meta's peak, but it still impacted the next 2
