The balancing around GOATs in 2019 absolutely ruined the community perception of "metas". There were AMAZING metas in the past that spanned multiple months that were not detrimental to the viewing experience. There were also AWESOME moments in GOATs, it just lasted too long.
The common fan outlook that it's either: a) one week metas with hero pools or b) a meta that lasts the entire year just doesn't hold up historically since 2016. I fundamentally believe that balancing CAN achieve this happy medium.

But hero pools can make that one meta literally impossible play tho, for example if a team wants to focus on rush comps then BOOM Rein is banned and you can't do it
What if they re-introduce Stages, but instead of it being a playoff of sorts, it's used to separate different Hero Pools? So Stage 1, x heroes are banned. Stage 2, etc.
The biggest reason people hated goats during OWL was begoes the pro’s complained non stop and most teams didnt even bother to learn how to properly play it. If more teams took the SF and Titans approach, goats would have been perceived differently.
Totally agree, that medium is 100% on the devs to create. pools are bandaids
from what i hear OW doesn’t have a live balancing team, maybe that should be the start? plenty of games have metas thatare fluid, the difference is the team behind the changes imo
I agree completely. Blizzard needs to start being more frequent with updates, add small changes into the normal game modes, not experimental. Then watch win rates. Mercy healing at 55 hp/s isn't going to make her instantly OP. But to get a more realistic test...
Blizzard needs more data than just the small group of people who play Experimental card.
