@SideshowGaming watching your vid on hero bans. Just wanted to add that Siege, which only has hero bans and not picks, and a banned hero goes for both teams, does have a ban meta. Maybe doesn’t change your opinion but seems to be contrary to your explanation
Yeah, I think that makes sense though. Attack and defense often require completely different strategies and heroes. Since they are often not mirror battles, specific bans for each would be far more impactful.

I do agree, but I also believe that hero bans in Overwatch without hero picks would result in a ban meta. Even though the Siege system is slightly different, it still has strong trends of certain heroes being consistently banned, even if the banning team would succeed with them

Obviously in turn that shifts the meta and leads the ban meta to change as well - if people stop scrimming with a hero because it's banned so frequently, eventually the hero will stop getting banned. Not sure whether I agree or disagree with banning in ow, but interesting still.
