Challenge for audio wizards: I wanna buy XLR shotgun mics & mixer to mic up 5 people around a large table. Usable sound quality for podcasting but mics out of camera shot. $1000 budget. What's the best gear to buy? Is it feasible or should I just give up & have mics in shot?

That was the inspiration, their audio quality is bananas. Budget is probably unreal as well though.

Oh, I don’t know, you might be surprised. Got away with a LOT with careful budgeting and good recording techniques when I had my indie mobile studio. Never know till you ask anyway!
