The
@CriticalRole crew has been doing that for quite a while now. Might wanna hit them up for some tips. /cc:@Maxxjenga@matthewmercer@Marisha_Ray -
That was the inspiration, their audio quality is bananas. Budget is probably unreal as well though.

@IsaacKLee thoughts on this for a friend?

given the limitations, I would suggest either one omnidirectional condenser mic or two cardioid mics crossed in an XY formation, feeding into an interface (no pre-amp)

truthfully it’ll be much easier to just have mics in shot. any good microphones will cost at least $100, and on top of that, majority of viewers won’t care about seeing a mic. i personally don’t mind seeing mics in streamer’s cams (iirc imaqtpie has his right by his face hahaha)

on top of this having multiple mics taking big audio input (like having groups of people w shotguns) it runs the risk of having phase issues, which would probably be minimal, but would also be easier to control if you have microphones close to the individual’s mouth

Depending on setup you could just do like two overheads in an X/Y configuration instead of individually overhead micing everyone. At least to start.
