Metas with ult economy as a central component have high variability in match scores. GOATs has longer engagements so less fights overall & a huge increase in snowball potential due to the ults. There's only a slim difference between being full held and making a huge push.
Was bothering me why matches are hard to predict. It's not because goats is braindead or you can make loads of mistakes or whatever: reduced 'even' fights just increases variability. Central tenet of the game. You can legit predict team's chances of winning 1.5-2min in advance.
it actually reminds me of how hockey is played. Good teams win more often than bad teams, but in any given game any pro team can win due to the variance inside the match. It's kinda cool.
Yes always read the ult economy, who used what, what % and time left and you can generally figure out who's got the upperhand, and especially from who lost how much and many engagements.
I don't have so much understndng of goats..but it feels like somehow plyrs need to play the heroes different for this goats strat..what wrkd b4 doesn't work with this stat, even a great player before looks bad if they don't play the spcfic hero style..tat messes up predictions
There isn't another long term predictable factor. Some people would say Zarya charge but that's poop imo -- you get it so easily. During the fight itself, positioning and the first engagement is key. Who controls highground? Who used less resources or took less damage early on?
This narrative of parity is being widely spread, but I would like to remind everyone there is a reason that NYXL and Vancouver have a combined record of 10-0. The best teams filter to the top as they always do. I think the even mid table is because of a more competitive League.
Ultimate impact plays a huge factor into this, and also depends on too many instantaneous variables to make it easily predictable. Especially in even fights. The key is maximizing garaunteed ult impact without creating too much more risk being punished positionally.
This meta seems easier to make predictions based on your eyes and what you experience watching the teams play rather than trying to follow stats
