What if my opinion is that how well Chengdu performs will be a indictment of the quality of talent currently coming out of China?
I think that's quite a harsh take given the best players are underage or on Spark, but it's fair compared to the average level of China I'd say. It is to China what Paris is to Europe imo; not a superteam but has some solid developing talent.

It probably is but like you said I think gauging a region's strength often comes down to not what their best players are like but what the median quality of player is. We have no idea of what that is for China because there is such a small sample size.

So a entire team made up of Chinese players which like you said probably doesn't have the best talent in the region, is probably going to be a measuring stick for a lot of people to what the average strength of the Chinese region is much like Paris and Europe.

the strength of a region isn't realistically measured by its median, it's measured by its top. I don't think anyone would find it very fair if teams like gladiators legion s3 or mayhem s2 were used as the NA measuring stick
