Did you get up to big Bear at all while you were in la? You would probably like it and they have a lot of bike rentals, trails or the ski runs
No, I only went to Mammoth snowboarding (and managed to break my wrist like a moron). I don't have plans to get a car, instead I think I'll cycle up to Pasadena and the surrounding hills where there are some minor tracks. Nothing too awesome but enough to get out.

Be super super careful, hopefully drivers are better now but when I lived their Californians we're the worst and I got hit by cars multiple times.

Yeah I keep hearing this, I'll be wary. The traffic systems are nuts, I can see how accidents happen often.
