The timing of patches is my single largest gripe with the Overwatch scene. Narratives have been bulldozered in most major tournaments for the "idk adapt i guess" highway and it doesn't have to be that way.

You saw such a massive shake up in team performance from regular season into playoffs due to meta shift. This made for an interesting playoffs adaptation race, but creates chaos at the very end when it matters most
-
I'd like to see OWL playoffs be double elimination if it's on a new patch. I think there's still some value to it being on a new patch given how the regular season is structured. Contenders playoffs should always be on the same patch though.

No amount of patch preservation could have helped that choke tho

Are you including OWL? Agree entirely for Contenders and other tournaments but I feel as though leaving the meta consistent between Stage 4 and playoffs doesn’t make sense when all the Stages are supposedly weighted equally.
-
If in your perfect world the playoffs patch was a perfect average of each stage's then it would make sense. It's not. It's random in terms of which teams it will favour or which stage it will be most similar to, as the changes are unpredictable.

What about OWL? The playoffs were a month after stage 4. Each stage was on a different patch. Genuinely asking to get your opinion, not trying to start banter.

I think towards the end of the year the patches were more significant and game altering than previous in the year. But agree it’s hard either way, esports woe.
