Atlas brands itself as a leader in environmental social governance, yet it continues to provide services to Brasfield & Gorrie, which plans to raze over 300 acres of the Weelaunee Forest. Also, on January 18, 2023, police murdered an environmental protester at the site of this project. Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, the Rainforest Action Network, and the Center for Biological Diversity have made statements in support of the forest defenders. This despicable disregard for life calls into question the publicly traded company's commitment to human rights, environmental justice, and positive community impact.
