Remote teams: How do you handle messages that your team will likely have a conversation around, but that doesn't need a response right away, or that the conversation could span multiple days on?

IMHO: This is a byproduct of people using slack when they should be emailing. Right-message, right-channel is organizational hygiene that is important.

We’re wrestling with this too. I’ve started to use Dharmesh’s hashtag system to indicate level of attention: FYI, Request, Plea. I’ve added Urgent (which I have not used yet).

Also, our standing rule is that we are asynch. If I need an immediate answer I’ll ask explicitly for one. Being a remote team has forced this and the team likes the results

We create a card in Asana and assign a due date to it depending on when we need to address it..
