Seems academic publishing is like buses... nothing for months then a book & paper 24 hours apart 😄 I'm so appreciative of all those whose stories and experiences informed this research & everyone who encouraged me through the research & the writing. 💛

Can you donate pink paint or offer some decorating help near Banbury ? It could make all the difference in the world to a little boy 👇

Thanks for the endorsement! The book contains commentary & analysis of sentencing guidelines & case law alongside research on impacts of maternal imprisonment on children & caregivers & judicial attitudes to dependent children. Good to hear already useful in court.

Facinating new article by on the effects of imprisonment on families - think of it as neither 'collateral damage' nor 'secondary punishment' but 'symbiotic harms' which makes a lot more sense.

It's been a long road, but I am delighted that my paper with 'Conceptualising the effects of imprisonment on families', in which we suggest a new conceptual term to analyse the harms to families is published today in Theoretical Criminology.

for example, I know that all my resources on considering dependents when sentencing primary carers are on the Judicial College intranet and are referenced in training, & in fact specific training is sometimes given on this. However many judges will never have seen them.

I think there is a disconnect between the training we expect judiciary to have and the reality of what they have. It's even more pronounced with magistrates. The Judicial College provides fantastic training but it can be down to judges to select their training & so there are gaps

Can anyone recommend, or does anyone know of training courses for using creative research methods with children? Every course that comes up in searches took place between 2015 and 2017! I've found drawing & talking but not much other than that
